need pictures & opinions please

My son has a 06 f150 2x4 supercrew, all stock. We got him 18x9 rims with +25mm offset and are ready to get some tires mounted. I have been thinking about 285/60r18 toyo proxes st2tires [street tread]. I think they would look good on the rims but don't want them sticking way out, or rubbing. The truck is stock height, we may lower the rear an inch or two to level it up. If anyone has pictures of a 2wd truck with this size tire/wheel on it I would love to see it or give me your thoughts. Thanks, Mike

You will be good to go with no rubbing. As for leveling the rear, you could remove the stock blocks back there or get a shackle kit. Like a hundred bucks installed for the shackle kit. Should look great.

Since you asked for opinions, I think that 18's are way, way too small for a street style crew cab truck. I'd go with 22's at a minimum.

Thanks for the input, my son for whatever reason wanted 18s & nothing bigger, so thats what we went with. Hopefuly it will still look ok. I guess my main concern is that they wont stick out way too much. I did some searching but couldn't find pics of this size of tire & rim in street tread on a 2wd pickup. The 265s i think are designed for a more narrow rim than 9 and I was thinking the 285 would look better. And jerrybizzel the shackle kit sounds like a good idea for lowering the rear.

I agree that it would look better with larger rims, but you don't want to spoil him too much so the 18s will look good and he should be grateful you bought him rims at all. My parents couldn't afford to even buy my rig when I was younger, let alone customize it. Took much better care of things that way and learned to appreciate the things I am fortunate enough to have now.
Heres my old gmc with 22s and a shackle kit in the rear. Only pic I have of it.

Good lookin GMC , I understand what your sayin about spoiling him, I worked for everything I had also, on the farm. He is in baseball, football, & basketball. Practices pretty much year around. Gets straight A's in school & does tons of homework each night to get those grades. So he's earn'd a little bling for his truck. Now to make sure we get the right tires.....
