Forgot to mention, stock wheels won't work with your lift. If you want mileage back, a regear would be most beneficial although not cheap.

Will I have to worry about rolling over with 285/70R17? I've always been told that you'll be top heavy and have issues going around turns and stuff.

So I wouldn't be able to go with 285/70R17 with rims that aren't stock? Yes I am new to vehicles.

That size tires will not look very good at all with the six inch lift you have. If you aren't too attached to the truck, I would look into trading it, if you are worried about mileage or get a cheap commuter car. Those tires will fit on stock rims, but stock rims won't work on your truck with the modified suspension. Specific backspacing is required for lifted trucks that stock wheels don't have.

As a reference here is my truck with only a two inch level. Your truck will be four inches higher. First pic with 285/70/17 terras and second with 315/70/17 falkens. The 285s look small on my truck so I could imagine yours with the lift.

Maybe you are misunderstanding, you can drop to a 17x9 custom wheel, but it will need to be low offset such as -12, but you cannot use 17 inch stock (that originally came on the truck) wheels.

I just put the Trail Grapplers on my truck the other day... 35x12.50r20. I'm running a 4" lift and there's no rubbing issues or anything. Look great, we'll see how the mileage goes. I got 50k out of my BFG TA/KOs.
