Really? I definitely thought FS was American. A good friend's brother works for them and they have some kind of office in Indiana really close to where my folks are moving to. There are Firestone service shops all over the country too. They had to at least started here and then got bought out.

This is interesting and useful, if accurate.

I was just thumbing thru it at a doctors office. Can probably find it on line, if they don't charge you a fee that is.
My folks have a CR subscription, maybe they've still got that issue somewhere.

Cool

KMAC, the issue was April '14, this months. They probably do have it since they send out issues early. I don't know if it is a special edition or the months regular issue.

Yes, I do know that. I wanted a tire with the highest wear rating and most were posting 350-400 rating. The Hankooks posted a 700 wear rating. These tires have a very deep tread and a little harder compound.

Firestone is owned by Bridgestone, a Japanese company. Has been for at least 10 years.....

Michelin (French) owns BFG and Uniroyal.
Bridgestone (Japanese) owns Firestone.
Continental (German) owns General.

The only major US tire companies left are Goodyear and Cooper.

I understand why people would want to by American, but why not buy based on traction (wet, dry, snow ect.) If my family is in the car I would want the tire that does the absolute best job regardless of who makes it. After all, that should be the most important reason for anyone's decision. Just my .02

Yeah, that part must not have registered with me. That was pretty bad

Wear ratings don't mean that much when they're completely in relation to that one company's other tires.

Hope they don't. Our companies never buy foreign ones anymore . . .

Saw an article say the deal is off, but it's from December.

That deal fell through.

Note that even a lot of Goodyear and Cooper tires are made overseas.

I too try to by American whenever I can. If I can I'll go with a small business over a corperation too. Thank's for the input on the Coopers GigaFish. That just might be my next tire if my ProComps ever wear out.
