Toyo M/Ts at 39K

Hi all, I have a set of Toyo M/Ts I put on my truck in Dec. 2008. Manufacture date of the tires is wk 26 2008. I have less than 39k miles on tires with plenty of tread left. 14/32 up front and 12/32 in the back. I have rotated and balanced tires every 5000 miles and run 42-45 PSI since day one. Noticed yesterday all 4 tires are dry rotting between the lugs. Sidewalls are fine. Is this an issue? Has anyone else had this problem with Toyos? is this just normal for a tire 4 years old? Any help would be appreciated. I did write to Toyo but have yet to hear anything. Thanks!

Dry rot isn't a surprise on a 3+ year old tire. Mine were made July 2009, and have 47k on them with some fair tread left. There is so.e dry rotting where you are mentioning on Them.

I was thinking about buying these. How exactly does the dry rot affect the tire? I'm glad to hear about the tread wear though. What type of driving do you do? And nice truck. I like the black and white combination.

sounds about right. they just last so long that this is bound to happen. its why big tire places wont mount 4 or 5 year old tires, because if they last that long it happens. ive always wondered how much the load range E and running in the 40-50 psi has to do with it. i run mine at 45 or 50 i think, les schwab will go up to 55 but with all the rain we get here in wa id like a little traction

Toyo emailed be back and said they will pro rate the tires. I've already talked to someone at discount tire here in Vegas and they said the same. So I would be getting about $650 off a new set. Thoughts anyone? The only other tire I'm interested in are the BFG Km2 but they don't have a 33x 12.5x18.

Holy cow! That has me tempted to try the same . But na, i've got a lot of miles out of these, can't be unhappy. But $1600 for new Nittos is gonna hurt!

Thanks Ryan. Street highway dirt and sand. But nothing extreme. That have held up well and I guess the dry rot is common here in the desert. But overall I am pleased with everything about the tire.

Toyo has a 5 year warranty from date of manufactor on their tires. This does cover ozone. So keep an eye on your tires. It's a good deal. Thanks toyo.
