Rubbing with 35's

I am wondering what can be done with my current problem. I have an 09 fx4 which i purchased from a dealer who put a leveling kit which i was told is a 2.5 or possibly 3 inch and 35 inch tires. there was rubbing but not enough to make it a deal breaker. It is currently only rubbing on the plastic mud flap which i can easily cut out and fix however i am looking at getting some xd rims for the truck this spring/summer and have been told by a few that the rim will push out the tire further and cause more rubbing than there already is. Any thoughts?

What are the specs on the wheel? How wide and backspacing/offset?

And if its a 3" level I'd take it out and go to 2.5" before you start having lots of problems.

If you want to run aftermarket wheels, your best bet is a full suspension lift.

I am thinking this is probably what I will have to do now that I have researched it a bit more. I could always just get smaller tires and go with aftermarket rims too. What is the recommended tire size for a 2.5 (or 3inch) level that would leave me enough room for a few options for wheels and minimal to no rubbing?

Around a 33x12.50. Maybe a little bit bigger.

Yeah. With a leveling kit most people run 35's on the stock wheels or 33's on aftermarket wheels.

Had my wheel & tire setup on two different trucks. One 2" leveled, and my current one un-leveled. Very little rubbing on the 2" level on the lower control arms when reversing at full lock. Oddly, barely any rub on control arm or sway bar un-leveled. Perhaps the side lugs wore down a bit more however as I put about 25,000 miles on the leveled truck with these tires.

20x9 XD wheels +18 offser 5.71" backspace, 33x12.50/R20 Toyo M/T.

I would say, a 34" size tire would look best leveled as long as it clears. I am going with 295/60-R20s next.

2" leveled.

Same setup, un-leveled.
