wheels and tires to stick out more

how do you get your tries to stick out some the fenders? I want that wide stance I see on other trucks. is it just negative offset on the rims? and I don't wanna use spacers with my stock rims either. its for a 98 f150 xlt

If you want them to stick out farther, ( be prepared for stone damage to the side of the truck) just get a wider wheel with the same back spacing as your current, or get a wheel with a smaller back spacing than current.

I thought this look went out of style years ago... not that it ever was stylish...

Be prepared for some rubbing too depending what tire you go with.

Not true! I know you're familiar with my truck (sorry...can't post pics from this machine), but I have literally almost no stone damage down the sides of my truck. Logic says you're correct, but reality disagrees...at least in my experience. And I've had my wheel on my truck since day one.

Yea even before I had the pre runner fenders on mine I never had stone damage, most of the time though when I see stones stuck in my tires it's usually close to the center of the tread, not the outside near the lugs so I guess that's why in my case.

And I have had stuff come up and hit the side of the truck, even with stock tires and wheels. Even hit a piece of metal once with the front tire and it came back and hit the side of the bed 3/4 of the way up. Put a dent in the bed side. Also naturally, put a half inch hole in the tire. And I had running boards. I have never figured how it did it, but it did. That is why Ford puts the stone shield on the rockers. Would be a big problem if it wasn't there.

I should also mention that many states make it illegal for tires to stick out beyond the fenders. Not to protect your vehicle, but for other vehicles and people.

Guess I've was lucky then, never had that anything come up and hit my truck. As for laws, that's one of the reasons I got my fenders because the law is 1.5" at the most iirc.

Just as an added thought, drive through a mud puddle with tires that stick out beyond the fenders. You will have a lot more of mud on the sides of the truck than one that has tires that do not stick out, even though that truck will have at least some streaks of mud on the sides.
Another thing that will cause the stones to kick up more is tread pattern. An AT tire will kick up more than an MT as it's tread will grab stones easier with the tighter tread pattern.
