Which Type Self Adjuster Cable?
I have a F150 Econoline, 1999. The self adjusters have rusted to Shxx. I picked up two replacement kits at AdvanceAuto. The Adjuster Cables seem to be too long.
They sold me the type that have a spring on the end of the cable that connects to the self adjuster lever.
Now for my foolishness. I don't know what the OEM units were like. When the brakes wouldn't adjust a few years ago I open them up and all the parts fell out because the cable had rusted. I removed the pieces, reassembled the wheels and adjusted them manually like we used to in the (not so) good old days.
Now, with these cables the adjuster doeasn't even touch the sprocket.
Does anybody remember what they have. I found this image on the hindernet and it is similar to the kit they sold me.
Thanks in advance,
Pete
