bleeding problem

I just put new calipers on the rear of my '00 F150. I have some pedal but when I bleed the rt. caliper I get air the first time, I get no air on the next bleeds.

I always get air on the first bleed then if i wait a minute I get air again. This will continue all day. I get air then wait a minute then i get air and so on. Still have a spongy pedal after going through 32 oz of fluid.

Where is this air coming from and why don't I get on the second bleed? I've been doing my own car work for 50 years and I've worked as a mechanic in the past but I've never seen this happen.
Thanks,
Fred V

Not being a smarty here, but are the bleed screws on the top (up)? Common mistake.

Bleed screws are supposed to be on top.

Have you checked all the fittings for small leaks? You could have a drip of brake fluid coming out (not much fluid) when you push on the pedal and then you suck air back in when you release the pedal. This would explain the soft pedal and the air bubbles on subsequent bleeds.

hmm, that may be a problem. I get just a bot of moisture on the rubber hose fitting but I cannot imagine that this much air is sucking back in.

Yes the calipers are mounted correctly; Ive done tons of this job but never seen this issue.
