Tire size vs weight

is it the weight that slugs the truk or the size??
BOTH.
Height: You're effectively lowering (numerically) the gear ratio (like taking off in 2nd gear instead of 1st).
Weight: For every added pound in rotating mass, it's like adding 10lbs of static weight.
If those tires are 20lb heavier than what's currently on your truck it's going to act like you're hauling around an extra 200lbs at each corner.

both is the answer but it also depends on what gearing your dealing with in the first place. i have 33x12.50 toyo m/t's on my truck with a 4.6l and 3:73's. feels a little heavier when getting on the gas pedal. but ill do a bit better than someone with 3:55's but with those that would be a real strain. i only run my toyos in the summer for about 5 months. ill be getting a programmer shortly as well as regearing to 4:56's in about a year which will make it feel like im back to just the stock 31.5 inch tires that came on it originally. i typically do rural driving at 45 to 50 mph each day to work, maybe stopping once. so for 85% of my driving i think the 4:56's will be a good choice. if you have a 5.4 with at least 3:73's and eventually go to 4:10 or 4:56 im thinking it will ease up on your tranny as well.

thank u both! I have an 11' 5.0 fx4 w/ 3.73's...ive just been up in the air on tires as im torn between the 275-70-18 MT and 285-75-18 AT2 ...< the 35 at2 is only because i want the x-teme..but i mite just settle and go 27-70-18 route on the at2 < non x-treme as it will strain the least ..id run the at2 35's if i didnt plan to tow but who know i only hav 4700 miles on my pirelies* so i have some time to dec!
