caliper upgrade

Anyone have a suggestion for upgrading brake calipers? Or, ideas of how I can get better stopping power?

I'm a firefighter and run 60 to 65 mph to station, 3 stop signs and 4 miles on a rural road.......brakes are really not cutting it. I don't "feel" like I'm pushing the brakes to hard but by the time I get to the station they feel mushy and I can smell them.
I changed to slotted and drilled rotors and have ceramic pads........helped a little but not much.

Any suggestions?

I'm brand new to the F 150 scene but, I've been around Mustangs for several years so, pardon my ignorance if I'm wrong but, you should be able to get all the parts from an 01 Lightning (rotors, calipers, hangers, etc), for pretty cheap and bolt on a whole new level of braking.

I'm most certainly not saying or implying you're wrong, but I've never heard that one before. I would have thought if the L brakes were an upgrade over standard F150 brakes, that would certainly be a popular, easy, bolt-on upgrade for regular trucks...and I've never heard it mentioned here before. Worth looking into though.

Aside from that, there's only two (debatably three) ways to truly and measurably improve braking performance. As mentioned by Pockets, you either need larger diameter rotors and/or better calipers that offer more clamping capacity (e.g. multiple pistons); both of which are expensive. The third somewhat debatable item is braided brake lines. Many say the ABS function negates any performance increase and makes it a wash, but I disagree. I think they're valid from anything I've ever put them on.

Pads and any performace type stock diameter replacement rotor will only offer you a percieved feel of actual increased brake performance.

+1 to SS braided lines, it will great rid of some of the flex in the factory rubber lines and give you a more solid pedal feel even when they heat up. Your other option might be to try a different pad compound? It will be harder on your rotors but a good semi metallic pad might do it for you?
