Question Impending Wheel Purchase...

2002 F-150 S'Crew Lariat FX-4

So, I'm getting ready to by some new wheels. Here are the specs...

Size: 17x9
Offset: -12mm
Backspacing: 4.49"
Weight: 30.45#
Construction: 1pc Gravity Cast

My question is this...what are the largest tires I can "safely" mount on the aforementioned wheels? Thanx.

Any lift on the truck or stock height? Do you mind trimming or rubbing any?

Safely?? Barring any outrageous lift or something like that, anyting that would truly be unsafe won't fit on the truck. Not quite sure what your main concern is though...was an odd question.

I'd go with 33x12.50's (305/65-17).

Truck is running at stock height...no lift of any kind...haven't even leveled the front. Thanx.

Yes, I know, it is a somewhat odd question. I am wanting to get a bit of a rugged look without the lift...and at the same time, not have to worry about a bead breaking when I go off road. Thanx.

You think a 12.50 will fit stock height on a 9" wide wheel? I was thinking something that measures around 33x11.50, but I'd trust your judgement more haha.

I had my current wheels and tires, 305/70 16 on 16X10's for years before I got a lift; so yea, they'll not only fit, they'll work just fine.

Again...anything that will fit on your truck and (arguably) any off roading you'll be doing in a pretty much bone stock truck is not very likely to bust a bead.

Yes, you'll just have to trim a little plastic off the front bumper's lower valance.

So, according to Galaxy's statement, I decided to go with 16x10 wheels. Now, can I go with 305/75 16 tires or can I go wider and taller? Thanks again.

305/70 is what you want. Never seen a 305/75 but if there were, it'd be taller and you don't want to really go any taller. For all practical purposes, the 305/70 is a 33 x 12.50 ish.

Question

So, I have one last question for y'all. I will obviously need a different way to mount my new spare tire, so right off the bat, I'm thinking bed-mounted. However, I'd like to find one that doesn't require drilling the bed...you know, to be able to use the existing bed bolts somehow, but I've not been able to find one. Here's what the spare tire holder needs to fit...

You'd need to design and custom build it if you don't want to drill into the bed.
