Tech questions between 265's-285's
I've been reading the posts and Saggitarias, if yurr around, I like what you said on one of the other pages and would appreciate your advice. I'm going to be placing a special order with Walmart for either of the tires mentioned below. I Just need to decide which one's. I still have the stock rims on my '99. and personally, don't think the MT/R's would look good with them! Eric's rims on his Silver F150 are the ticket! It's mostly city and open hwy for me but spend half the year on gravel roads and sand. I have no lift equipment installed so would I be making my my turns with Goodyears MT/R's 285 or their AT/S 285's without rubbing? Or should I stick with the 265's. I am towing a travel trailer around 400 miles RT a few times during the year also. My gear ratio is 3.55. Would going to a 285 do me more harm than good? The only reasoning I have with 285's is mearly cosmetic; to fill up the wheel well. What's my route to go?? I may also consider new rims. What about gas milage? Power? How is the hwy traction with MT/R's? compared to the AT/S? I'm not a 4wheeling mud hobbie person but really like the tread on them big bastards. Should I just stick to 265's? Also, how many miles could I expect between the 2 sizes? Tryng to reach Goodyear is rough. Their lines are usually busy. So hope someone can remember all these questions.

I think that's me
The guy with the silver truck could be me and yes those are MTR is 315/75/16 on 16x10 rims. They ride very well on the highway at speeds over 80 mph. The sound is much more than the at's but that's expected. For the 285's i don't think they'll affect gas mileage too bad. They are a little stickier than the at's but not all that bad. hope this helps. if you have any other questions, let me know. Eric
