What could have damaged my OEM 20s?

Hey guys,

Just got some tires mounted on my 20" wheels. All came out great with no scratches on wheel other than one. Sadly, i did not take any before pics of wheel. Tire shop says they did not damage it. I know for a fact it was not there two days ago. What could have gouged the part of the wheel so close to the center when unmounting/ mounting? If thats even possible:/ Any input is greatly appreciated
Thanks!

Could be a tire prybar. Maybe dropped them on their face while moving through the shop. Etc

If you're pretty confident the shop did it, go back and speak with the manager

Can you post a pic with a little more of the lip of the wheel around the affected area

I'm trying to see if there are any marks in line with that scratch on the lip that would look like a prybar used during tire service. It would be in the 12 o clock range on your second picture

Here is a shot of the wheel. The damage is seen at the 8 oclock mark. I visually did not see any damage on the lip. Im thinking if they would have fallen they would me damage in other places. Cant figure it for the love of life.

It could have fallen on one specific spot, like a jack stand, or the corner or a tool cart.

Just hypothesising, really no idea for sure what happened

I agree. I'd guess that a tech dropped something on it. I'd talk to the manager. Obviously the damage is not where you would expect if a driver hit a curb, pothole, road debris, etc.

I have a scratch like that on one of my wheels due to road debris... I saw a chunk of metal or something on the highway but didn't have time to swerve... front tire kicked it up and rear wheel caught it.

So it is possible it was from driving.

Which side of the truck is that? Is the damage on the "leading edge" of the wheel? (is it the drivers side?)
If its not the "leading edge" that would contact it while driving then you have a serious argument that it had to be the tire shop.
