TPMS for New Wheels

My brother picked up these 18" x 8.5" wide Expedition wheels from a 2012.
He has an 08, so his should have the band type TPMS on it. His plans are to just replace the awful factory chrome clad wheels with these when his factory tires are dry rot (about 24,000 miles on truck and is a garage queen like mine.)

I've never seen the inside of a wheel with TPMS, so is there a groove machined into the wheel for the band to ride in? Or do the bands just ride in the center of the wheel?

Trying to decide on aftermarket valve stem TPMS or factory band clamp TPMS for the new wheels (if wheels aren't specifically machined for them.)

It has a band that is held along the center of the wheel. The monitor is at the 6 o clock possition from the valve stem. You need the band style monitors for 07-08 trucks. There is no groove in the wheel for the monitor or band.

you can reuse the TPMS monitors, but you'll need to get new bands.

Another option I did when using 2016 takeoff's was to install a set of VDO sensors that replace Ford 315 MHz bands. My concern in reusing the original sensors was the batteries were past their intended life.

The VDO's were $30 each on the big A:
