20's!
I switched to 20's about 2 months ago and noticed no loss of performance engine wise. I'm running Goodyear GTII 275/45/20 which is about half inch shorter than the stock 255/70/16. The wider tires do make peeling out a little tougher to do. But my handling has improved thanks to the Belltech 3/4 drop that went on 2 days before the 20's were mounted. As for the weight of the wheels issue, my wheels are billet aluminum which are lighter than the chromed steel counterparts. But in the looks departmnet there is no comparison! 18's are kinda small and 22's are a little too big and pricey but 20's look just right!

How do you mean performance?
Performance handling wise, for the most part, the larger the rim, the better the handling. This is mostly due to that your ride will be stiffer and more importantly, it'll force you to use lo-profile tires, wich will handle better.
Engine wise, it's all the same. It depends on the total diameter of rim+tire. The larger you go, the less torque you have, the less accel you have and visa virsa. I would love to have a nice 285/60/18 or 20 on my truck, a nice balance of handling, comfort and looks. Too bad my set-up would be over $2500!

find out how much the 20's you want weigh, then how much the tires you would get weigh. and compare that to the weight of the wheels and tires you have now. because some wheels weigh alot more than others. for example stock alloy c5 rims weigh around 20-25 pounds while the upgrade magnesium wheels weigh les than 8 pounds. so obvisously performance wise tha c5 with the lighter wheels would be faster.
