Question Dented Rim, now need new rim????

I have no clue how this happened, but when I went to have my wheels balanced last week my mechanic noticed that one rim was dented (inside) causing the tire to tire to toe (nascar term, sp?) in a little. Anyways, its a problem, once I hit 65 it feels like the wheel is about to come flying off, and when going down the highway it feels like I'm driving down a dirt road at 70mph.

Anyway my question is I know I'm gonna have to get a new rim, how much do they cost individually thru ford, or is there a place on the web that sells them individually?

97' Wheels on Ebay

I too have a 97 F150 with the off-road package and I happened to find some on E-bay last night (just looking to see what a wheel sold for on Ebay). I happened to find a set of 4 17"x 8.5" wheels found on the 97' F150 with ORP. The bid was up to $200, excellent deal considering one from ford would run probably around $300 to $400.

Beast97,

There is a single 17" ORP wheel for sale on the ebay:

It's at $30 right now. I tried to e-mail you directly, but you chose not to recieve e-mail from the boards in your profile.

I'm not sure if its a major problem, but your 97 has a 12mm inset if I'm not mistaken and that rim for sale has a 14mm inset. I just bought a set of 4 ORP rims off of e-bay last week for $227.00 and had to make sure they were for a 97-98 so that they would fit properly. I have heard thet the 14mm would fit but I like being for sure so I got the 97-98's. Maybe someone else could clear this up for sure??

The new 14mm will fit '97s and up on 12mm studs. These wheels are hub-centric, so the the size of the lug nut studs isn't such a big deal. You can't go the other way (old rims on new trucks) since the 12mm lug not holes won't fit on the 14mm studs.

I had to buy a new rim last year for my truck after putting a dent in it on the inside making the tire bead lose air around the dent area as I found out the hard way when the tire blew out at 70 mph the rim was just over 200.00 dollars for a 16 inch rim for my 2000 XLT.
