Question Cross drilled rotors?

Need to replace my factory rotors - cant complain I got 154,000 miles out of them...The question is are cross-drilled rotors any good? Does anyone have any experience with JcWhittney Cross drilled rotors or should I stay away from them and just use Ford rotors...Thanks

Cross drilled rotors are used in high performance and road racing applications to eliminate gas fade. For a street driven vehicle they are really an unnessesary expense because gas fade never really happens on the street. You may get lining fade (heat) but usually not gas. Also cross drilled rotors will sometimes crack meaning you will have to replace them fairly often. I would by regular ventilated rotors and put you money into better pads or calipers.

I'm going to be putting in cross-drill rotors from applied rotor technology on when I have some dough available. I've just never really liked the stock rotors/pads too much and even after upgrading the pads to the best I could find, I was still dissatisfied. The stock rotors just warp too easily and grind too much. The ones from applied rotor technology are kryogenically treated so they say they will NEVER warp.

I'm not sure about those rotors not warping. Espiecially if the are drilled or slotted because there is less mass to dissipate the heat. Personnaly i would put the money into 4 piston calipers. If you get them let us know how they hold up.

hmm the 4 piston is an idea too.
From Applied rotor technologies, I was quoted about $290 for the front pads/rotors.

dont buy drilled or slotted rotors

Racing cars use plain rotors.

Pads do not gas. Slotting and drilling does nothing for gassing or cooling. The rotor is vented and that is how it is cooled. If you run the drilled or slotted rotors on the street, because of the thermal shock they are very easy to crack.

If you want something for performance, get the cryogenically treated units. If you want the rotors to look nice, get them zinc washed.

Dont waste your money on slotting and drilling.
