I have a 1998 w/ rear drums. Can they be converted to disc?

Yes, there are various companies out there that sell conversion kits. I think it will run you about $500.

I did mine the easy way... I found a guy selling a complete rear axle. It was out of a 2001 supercrew. It has 3:73 limited slip, calipers and the rotors. Paid $ 450 in the ford crate!

for the new 97+ trucks, get a newer axle and do the swap. Adjust out the brake booster and move on with life.

how long and extensive is it to swap the whole axle? And what advantage is it over just swapping the brakes?
