Treadwear Ratings?
My Ranger's Firestone Wilderness AT's were recalled and they replaced them with Bridgestone Dueler ATs. The Firestone's treadwear rating was 440 and the Bridgestone's rating is 300. Even though they are both rated at 60,000 miles doesn't the rating indicate the Bridgestones will wear out long before the Firestones will?
Bridgestone Dueler A/T......440 Traction A..Temp B
Firestone Wlderness A/T...300 Traction A...Temp B

The treadwear ratings are developed from a government standard test. All things staying equal to that specific test, the 440 wear rating would outlast the 300 treadwear rating. Look at tires with really long mileage ratings (80,000+), and you will see ratings well over 450. In any event, your truck certainly doesn't duplicate the test creating the ratings exactly. Driving style, road surfaces, weight distribution, pressures, you name it. They all will do different things in differing degrees to different tires. The treadwear rating is one basis to compare, another is the manufacturer mileage ratings. If they are equal, I wouldn't worry about there being a huge difference.
