Lightning wheel and lugs
I just bought a set of 2001 Lightning wheels for my 98 STX. The guy I bought them from also gave me the factory chrome lug nuts for them which I thought was cool. Well I put the wheels on this morning and found out that the lightings have larger wheel studs than the regular f150's so I had to go down to my loacl tire shop and buy a set of chrome lugs. No big deal just kinda surprised me. I thought I would let anybody that might be buying a set of these know that you need to buy some aftermarket lugs if you want to put the wheels on.
They look AWESOME! I am one happy wannbe today! wooooohooooo

I have the 01' 20 inch chrome lightning rims i love em. I had the same problem with the lugs for some crazy *** reason ford had to put some stupid *** 12m -1.75 lug nuts and there hard as hell to find locking lugs for but its worth all the effort.
I would like to see the pics im about to get mine developed soon as well.

I had a hard time finding lock lugs too. The bad thing was I like to have 2 different set of lock lugs on my wheels I had to order one set. Here is a picture I just took this morning. The truck doesn't look as tall in person as it does in the pic but it is pretty damn tall. I have a 3/4 drop kit on order as well as Lightining Ground effects.

What's up with the lightning bolt center cap? Are the SVT caps running out or are the replica's just getting the bolt?
I really don't want to do a serious drop my truck, but i do want to level it out with some shackles in the rear, so i'd like a tire that would fill as much of the well as possible without throwing my speedo off a big amount.

The guy I bought them from took them off his lightning when He first bought the truck and put 20 on his lighting so I have the stock goodyear tires 295/45/18 The tire is a monster it is amazing to me how wide it is.
The from the bottom of the fender to the top of tire in the front is 6" and in the back it is 8" . That's way to much for me, I do have the chassis tech 3/4 lowering kit being shiped to me which I hope to receive this week. The overall hight of the tire on the wheel is 28" sitting on the ground. I don't want a slamed truck either Since I had a 3/4 kit on another f150 I know it doesn't lower it all that much just enough IMO to give that mean looking stance.

Dreamer7, one last question. Are your tires the original size the lightning came with, and finally, does your spedometer act any different. I went out and mesured my tires, and they are 29" (I think), and the new tires, from what you measured, will only be about a 1/2 to an 1" farther away from the wheelwell. Anyway, I think I am going with the chrome wheels since I have chrome bumpers. The Goodyear place said Each F1 was around $250, A little expensive, so I will go with the tire/wheel combo from Tirerack. Thank's for all your help.
