New rotors & pads all around?

New rotors & pads all around?
Hello all,
I just got a call from the local Midas shop telling me that I need to spend $580 to replace front & rear pads and all 4 rotors.
This doesn't seem right to me with a "gently" used truck with only 52k miles on it.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Thanks for your feedback!

My fronts were replaced twice, once at about 25K miles and again around 55k miles. My rears were replaced once at 55k miles and all I did was replace the pads and brake hardware on the rears. Parts for the front cost me about $275 but I bought cross-drilled rotors since my orginal ones were definitely shot, one of them was warped, and I tow a lot. The pads and hardware for the rears cost about $30, the rotors were in great shape so I passed on replacing those. I did the work myself the second time around and it took me about 2 hours for all 4 wheels.
So, with parts and about $50/hour labor it seems like you're paying about $175 too much, maybe more since they should be able to do it under 2 hours. BUT you would not be replacing rotors on the rear either. I'd shop around or consider doing it yourself. It's actually pretty easy and you don't need any special tools like you do on some vehicles, assuming you have a late model 150 or Expy... I did my fronts one Saturday morning and the rears the next Saturday. Tool me about an hour for each axle.
Hope this helps...

Yes that does help!
I took the truck in to another mechanic this morning and he suggested that the rear rotors didn't need to be replaced. All told it saved me alot of money.
The fronts need to be replaced. The mechanic said something about them being corroded on to the hub and they would have to be cut off and replaced. That doesn't surprise me. Living in Minnesota with Winter road salt corrodes everything around here.
Thanks again...
