Question Biggest tires on stock 17 inch-no lift

I have the 265/70R17 on my 2000 sport flareside e/c 4x4 and want to put the biggest all terrain on without a lift and certainly without any rubbing. So far on the board it looks like there isn't any problems with the 33/12.5R17 but I want to make sure before I invest. Also, what is the conversion of 33/12.5R17 to metric? I noticed BFG and Goodyear do not make anything in an all terrain bigger than the stock size. Any recommendations on tire brands would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Pro Comp makes a 305/70/17 tire that wil fit the stockers. It comes in a M/T and a A/T tread. You can run a 33" tire on a ORP 4x4 with no rubbing. If you want a wider selection of tire and tire sizes then change to a 16" or a 16.5". I'm currently running a 33x12.50/16 Pro Comp M/T and have no lift as of yet. BFG is comming with a wider selection of tires and I think a 17" in the TAKO.
The eqiv to the 33" 12.5 is 305/70.

Actually Goodyear makes a few 275's that they claim are nearly 33". The MT/R, AT/S and one other....I think it was the RT/S or something...because I was looking at all of the choices for my 17's I finally ordered Bridgestone Duelers in the stock size.

Just double checking!

Okay - if I understand this correctly, I can go as large as a 33" tire w/o having to worry about rubbing or cutting my fenders/flares - right? I'd like larger tires but I don't want to start chopping my truck up in case I go back to stock size. How do the 33's affect the speedometer? I'm totally stock - for now! Thanks!

Cowlady,
Alot of people here run those procomps 33/12.50/17 with out a problem. They will fit fine with or without the ORP. The orp has the same suspension as the non orp. Do a search in the supercrew form there is a guy that has great pic's of his supercrew & his expy with these tire's on stock rim's.

Also I spoke to BFG about a wider selection in the 17" & they told me there coming out with a 285/70/17 in an all-terrain soon.
A 285 is like a 33" tire , I believe it measure's 32.9" Just a little narrower than the procomp.

hey buffalotr8,
I wanted the thing same you do,and I checked with my local tire store and they hooked me up with BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A km new tire in size 285/70/17 on my stock wheels and they look great. They told me that was the biggest I could put on my truck without a lift. If you want to see what they look like go to the photo gallery and pull up Chris's 2001 Supercrew 4x4 and see what you think. Hope that may help you.
