I've got a 97 F150 with 150k on it. My rotors warped the first time because some idiot at a service center "forgot" to tighten the lugs on one wheel......that was at about 20k.
Then at 48k, they warped again and Ford replaced everything due to a recall on the lugs which were said to loosen and cause this same thing.
Then at about 145k, rotors warped again right after rotation.... checked the torque and found 30lb difference in lugs on that wheel. Typically, I use a manual torque wrench right after I get home after getting any tire work done but just didn't this particular time and it cost me.
All vehicles suffer from this malady although lighter vehicles, sports cars etc certainly have less occurances.

Hi , I'm a new member here .
I have looked for a site like this for a while , because Ford has turned a deaf ear to my problem . I have an older f150 , a '94.
Bought it brand new off the showroom floor . I have less that 50k on it . But , I on my third set of rotors ! I know I'll probably need another set by fall .
Is there any cure for this expence ?

Thanks............nice site guys

I think Ford has a problem with brakes. My rotors on my F 250 had problems warping all the time. I dont know much about them on the half tons.

Thanks for the quick reply .
You know , I'm just a regular blue collar guy , and the wife and I both work to keep the "boat" floating , but , shelling out that kind of "extra" cash every 20k , for something that should last MUCH longer , gets to be a pain in the wallet .
Heck , my last set of tires out lasted my rotors !
That's 3 sets , with dressing them in between each time . Even with all the brake trouble I've had with this truck , I still love it though .
The only other problem I've had is the wiring in the steering column . But , that's another thread .
