New Dodge Ram SRT-10 to have stock 24" rims...

Sick, I tell you. Sick!
This is totally not cool. Let us not forget this is a DODGE. It's blasphamy for you people to be talking about this on f150online.com
Ok, just kidding. But personally, if it was free, I'd still drive it onto the river! I'll hand it to them, the new design looks better than the older one but still. It looks like a midget Kenworth POS.
Yeah the horsepower is there but how fast can you go. And you know the only reason they are doing this is because of the SVT. Look at what they are offering in the SRT line up. A Neon to match the Focus, a RAM to match the L, and a Viper (not really a match) for the Mustang.
Remember, MOPAR means Must Order Parts And Repair

I think the truck looks pretty cool, and what an insane amount of power. I recently took some pictures of the truck at the Chicago Auto Show.....you can see the pictures here: http://kdebelak.home.attbi.com/dodge.htm

I Wonder how many C.I.'s does this 8.3 boast? This is rediculous. How in this world is a truck with over 500 hp going to be able to keep transmissions intact? 4 mpg is about right. Maybe 5 if their lucky. I believe an L could smoke this SRT-10, because it would smoke the tire's and get no traction whatsoever off the line. Maybe if it was a car it might get traction. But a truck? I don't think so!

whatever make you feel better about dodge offering a 500 h.p. truck but personally my 5.4 gets 12 on a regular basis so if i got 10 or 9 with the dodge in trade for 240 h.p i would be ok with that.
as far as the transmissions goes the current crops of diesels are all making over 500 ft lbs of torque at a lower r.p.m and pushing heavier vehicles so i dont see that is a problem. from what i have seen the lightning runs awsome 60 ft and 0-60 times with 450 ft lbs of torque so why would the dodge have such problems?
competion between automakers is good, we get better trucks with them trying to out do each other so this is really a good thing. as far as the looks go, when the 97 ford came out i hated it, now i love it---go figure. there was a supercab ice blue dodge with 20" at the houston live stock show and it looked pretty good to me.

8.3 would be about 500 CI. My problem with the new Dodges is the rim size. Standard 17's with optional 20's and 24's on the SRT.
Let's talk about tire selection. NONE. Let's talk replacement tire price... ZERO flexibility.
No thanks... I'm happy with Ford (although the Dakota isn't a bad truck)

bad-***
That ram is friggin bad you guys. i know its a dodge, and i know its out because of the L . I just have to give props in general to dodge for encouraging the "race truck" idea. Ford started it ( god bless them! ) and now dodge is "trying" to give it a shot. I encourage that sort of thing, makes for good street races! The only thing i would change is the 24" rims are nutz. If they make it a 22" or 23" at most it would be better. I would be scared to peel out hard with no side walls like that. Think of it this way, if that thing actually gets produced as the design stands now, it will be at least be an awsome race to brag about when your FORD POWER breaks his neck. or maybe no? hahah
GO FORD!
GO FORD!

i'll admit, i would love to drop all that power in my truck (I'd run 11's I tell you!), but from the very begining I've thought that the front end looks FUGLY! It's not too shabby at the sides with its gas cap, the hard tonneau, and the curves, but nothing helps that big gaping mass of metal in the front. It would look better if they ran it into a tree (all that power would help).

ok guys i realize this is a dodge we are talking about . but the major deal here is this will get ford to boost HP in they're truckks . and we all would like a bit more HP right?
as far as price . it'll probably be in the viper range $70,000 . who in the world would buy a 70k truck? your right it is fugly as hell !!......lol . but i incourage them to build it . then chevy and ford will have to keep up :-)

Uhhh, has anybody seen the price of 24" tires recently? And then there's the treadwear rating - how often will I have to get a second mortgage to keep my truck in rubber?
To say nothing of the cost of a dented 24" rim. I guess if you can afford a $45K 2wd pickup, you can afford the $2500 per year for tires, and $3000 per year for gas.
I think the whole "Hot Wheels" megawheel look really getting out of hand. In fact, I think Ford made a mistake putting 18" wheels on the Lightning. It handles well, but I can feel every little frost crack on the road right up my spine. IMHO, 17s would have been a better real world choice for American roads. YMMV (especially if you live below the frost zone).

THat "thing" is scheduled for production and I have a buddy who has already laid down a SIZABLE deposit!! I agree, the wheels and tires suck, but man the thing (I saw it at the Detriot Show) ROCKS. . . eh, even if it sounds like a UPS truck on steriods. . .But then the Ford 6.8L V-10 does too . . . LOL
