wheel hubs

I just took my 2000 F-150 to the dealer for my last oil change before my warranty runs out (60,000 km). I asked them to check the brakes and they told me the rotors and pads were shot. They also said that I needed new hubs and Ford would pay for them but I would have to pay for the brake work. Any one else have similiar problems? Seems a bit early for new pads and rotors. I'm new at this site and I hope I've posted correctly.

I think your right on schedule for the pads, i don't see why they can't machine the rotors though, unless your running metal to metal right now.

They are going to turn the rotors. What I don't understand is what happened to the hubs and why is Ford paying for them? Could there be a connection between the hubs and brakes?

I changed my front rotors/pads at 80,000 kms. No hub problems though. They are sealed units. I got a reminder card from the local dealer to "service" the 4x4 hubs... ya right... not serviceable... idiots.

Possibly if the hubs are worn then your brake rotor would be wobbling around a bit causing the pads to wear funny I suppose. I got pads from JCWhitney "Titanium" for $32usd. Love'em... no dust on the mags.
