Question Opinions on Pro Comps All Terrains?

I been thinking about getting some Pro Comp All Terrains if 4 Wheel Parts runs a sale in March. I was going to get 33's on my 17inch stock wheels. I was thinking about getting the Mud's for the summer months and the All Terrains for the winter. But I really don't know if I want to spend that kind of money on tires. There is just too many other things i want to get.
I'm looking for some feedback from you guys. And if you have any pics that would be great.
Thanks Guys. Eric

made by cooper tire and They blow out and take fenders out with them they look alright but they are not that good of a tire, tire wear is not remarkable either.

Thumbs up

FFEric224,

Not sure where V6runner got his info, but The ProComp AT's are a great tire, and yes they are made by Cooper who has been around forever. They have had some recalls on some of their tires about a year or so ago, but never had any trouble with their AT/MT tires. I have them on my 2002 F-250SD 4x4. Got mine from 4WheelParts when they had Buy3 get 1 free. Came out to $125 per tire. Here is a pic. Seem to wear really good.

Phil,

Thanks for the info and the pic. I hope 4Wheels Parts has another sale like that soon. I also wish I had them on now, we are supposed to get 12 inches of snow tonight. I really don't like the stock Good Years.

I have them too. No comlaints, they look nice and work well. Mine aren't lasting that long, I have about 25K miles on them and they are almost gone, but they have a 50,000 mile warranty.

With all the thick mud we get in Georgia, though, I'm going to be installing the MT's when these wear out completely.

Question

phildacf150

I see that you had BFG all terrains on your 97 F150. Since you have had both tires, which ones do you think are the better tire? dry handling, wet, mud, etc.

I love my BFG's, but the ProComps are much cheaper if found on 3for1 sale. The sidewalls look kinda wimpy on the PC all terrains, but if they are as good as the BFG's......

thanks

Where did you come up with that?

They are a great tire. Best AT tire next to the BFG in pretty much everyones opinion. I run them and have had great luck with them. Never heard of a blow out with them and hear reports of great (50,000) treadware. Only complain I have heard of is some dificulty balancing them.

I have 33x12.50 Procomp ATs on my 02 Supercrew. I have always been a BFG fan in the past, but the prices are driving me away. I got my procomps at the buy 3 get one free deal at 4 wheel parts. Cost was about 120 per tire in the end. So far, I have 12,000 miles on mine and they look brand new. If they keep up like this, I will get over 50K easily. Also had absolutely no problems balancing them, in fact there is less weight on each tire to balance than any other I have owned, including stock.
Would I recommend them? Definately.

I read in here somewhere on another post about the size of the tires (33's) slowing the truck down. I have a 99 with the 4.6. I'm waiting for my cat back system to get here then maybe a chip. I don't what to make my truck any slower than it is.

RebelYell,

I would have gone with the BFG's again on my 2002 F-250 but like mjs said. "the prices are driving me away". I got my ProComp 33x12.50x16 AT's for $124 a piece from4wheelparts.com when they had their buy 3 get 1 free deal. Would have cost $300 bucks more to go with the BFG's.

So Far So Good
Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, but I was wondering if you had some "situational" comparisons. Which is better in different situations, mud, wet, dry, straight-line, etc.

RebelYell,

Both BFG's and ProComp AT's seem to be about the same as far as I can tell. I haven't done much offroading in either. Plus my old truck was a open diff and my new one is a Limited Slip, so it is kind of hard to tell but it seems likr the ProComps do better in the rain due to the tire siping.

Hope this helps.

I have seem to offend some Pro-Comp A/T consumers
I will have to with drawl my remarks, since they can only be proven towards the MUD Terrains, All terrains use the same tire but switch the tread.

I have ran
BFG muds
BFG all terrains
Brigestone Muds
Pro-Comp Muds

For a cheap tire the Pro-comp all terrain is ok assuming they will not see the abuse of a mud tire. As hard as I am on tires, on and off pavement I prefer a stronger carcuss to take punishment.
I did buy the p/c m/t on the seamingly good 4 for 3 sale.

Cool

I went with the new bfg mud terrain t/a km in the 285/70/17 they ride great on the road for a mud tire I dont think they are any louder than the all terrain
