Rate you're BFGs
I'll be getting new tires soon and i'm leaning toward the BFG A/Ts. How would you rate them in wet weather and snow? Do they get good traction in the rain? That's my biggest concern since the're an all terrain tire instead of a regular highway service tire (or whatever you want to call it).
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate:
1)dry traction
2)wet traction
3)snow traction
4)off road performance

Love my BFG's
I installed them on my 2000, and loved them. I managed to put 30,000 miles on them and they still looked great ( I rotate them on a regular basis) when I traded it in.
In fact, I wouldn't take delivery of my 2002 without them being installed (and paid for) by the dealer.
We don't have much snow in south texas, but I would bet they will excell in it too....
I would rate them a 9 in all four of your categories.
Hope this helps.

DanB 360,
I agree with Swofford. This is the first mod I do with all my truck's, usually with in 100-200 mile's . In my opinion they are the best AT out there. I rate them between 8 & 10 in all your catagory's. I've been running them on all my truck's since 1985.
I've had alot of different truck since then. Go & get them you won't be dissappointed. They are a little pricey though, but worth it in my opinion.

hey fellas,
i've owned several sets of the bfg's, too. i think they are a good tire, but you can find better deals on tires just as good. the pricing from bfg has become ridiculous in the last few years.
my ratings are: dry traction-7
wet traction-5
snow traction-6
off-road traction-5
i haven't rated these tires as high as some of you, not that i don't like them. on the contrary, i think they are one of the better at tires on the market. best of luck, Rich.

I love them, about 6-8K on mine so far and even the little knubbies are still there. Great looking tire may not be the best in one field but accels in all and BFG knows this and it reflects in the price. If money was no object again I would not pick any other but for the dough I would probably mail order Pro Comps when they are on special 4 for 3 deal. Another good tire but alot cheaper ( only goes up to a 265 or 285-75-16) is the Cooper Discover ST.
Dry-10
Wet-9
Snow- around a 7
off-road-low 7, tend to clog with low wheel speed

I use to own a set of 32x10.5x16 that I had on 4 different vehicles. 2 Toyota 4x4s and 2 F150's. All together I had a shade over 120,000 miles on the one set of tires!!! I planned on keeping them until they wore out but it seemd they never would. I used them on highway, city and off road. They were awesome tires! I have no plans to put anything else on my truck.
I let them go with my last truck because of their age and not the tread wear. They cruised through our state safely inspection.
I'm still running the factory Goodyears on my '99 and at 25,000 miles the tires are worn out. My new tires will be on before deer season and they will be BF Goodrich Radial A/Ts. If they are only 1/2 as good as my last set I'll be more than happy.
I read somewhere that BFG makes a 33x12.5x17. Haven't found them yet but will run then down as soon as I am ready to buy.

Well, I had to chime in. After reading all these posts about the BFG TAKO's I decided to take the plunge! With alot of help from my buddy Dan, I got four 285/75/16's mounted on the ole 98' F250 LD this morning. I have to tell you it really changes the appearance of the truck! I can't believe my 250 came with 245's on it!!! Oh well, after 1 day of driving with them, I like them so far. Very smooth ride (reminded me of how she rode when she was new), and only a hint of tire noise compared to the oversized car tires that were on it. And as described many times on these forums they fit fine on my stock wheels and cleared everything on my 4X4 (no trimming or tweaking of the torsion bars). A bit expensive, but I am very happy so far with them.
Good luck all....
