I know you can run a 285 series metric tire, which is about 1" narrower and approximately the same height without rub. These are good size tires IMO. The tire store swore they would rub, after pursuading them to try one because we knew better (we almost got them to give us the tires if they didnt) they fit with pleanty of clearance. Your first problem will be them rubbing the front fender on the passenger compartment side.

what do you have to do to fix the rubbing? Is it hard to do? Does it affect the looks of the truck?

They dont rub and they fill the wheel wells nice. They're pretty big tires but you dont have to "fix the rubbing".

I dont really know that much about trucks, so how much bigger is a 285 than the stock tire, is it a noticable difference, can i use the stock rims?

My truck came with 255/70-16 which are basically a 30x10.00-16. A lot of 4x4s come with 265/70-17s which are 32x10.50-17. What size did your truck come with? I ran my 285/75-16 (33x11.50-16) for a while with the stock 16x7 wheels without any problems.

I don't know if you are running factory 17 inch rims or not, but if you are check out my gallery. I am running GY 305/70/17 MT/Rs on the stock 17 inch sawblades. I haven't had any problems and do not have any rubbing problems. I do not have a lift.

Hope it helps.
